Job Description
Managing the overall health and operations of 1-4 practices or 8-25 providers within a specific region or specialized group such as Primary Care or Specialty is the primary role of the Practice Administrator. The Practice Administrator I holds the responsibility of ensuring that the practices have effective leadership in place and are achieving their performance targets or even surpassing them in most critical areas and financial aspects.
Essential Job Function:
- Improving patient satisfaction and practice revenue requires the optimization of provider templates and the removal of barriers to provider productivity, ensuring maximum access availability and volumes, as well as enhancing patient-facing time.
- Maintaining set standards for staffing, encouraging team participation, and authorizing teams to handle daily challenges and obstacles, working closely with the Director in hiring new personnel and quickly addressing any provider-related problems that may arise.
- Collaborates with the Director and providers to review and negotiate provider contracts, illustrating a profound knowledge of the Resource-Based Relative Value Scale (RBRVS) and its implications on reimbursement and pay structures, ultimately strengthening ties with providers and increasing the profitability of the practice.
- Ensures that business units comply with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory mandates to uphold a superior level of patient care and operational performance.
- Supervises the TNM performance of individual divisions, devising measurable process standards in partnership with on-site supervisors to evaluate TNM developments on a daily basis, and promptly modifies operations and protocols to rectify any drawbacks in metrics, securing a sustained progression in patient welfare and operational effectiveness.
- Responsible for driving the attainment of financial objectives in the business divisions, continuously evaluating financial figures, executing remedial measures for disparities, supervising accurate financial policies like cash management, billing, categorization, and revenue procedures, and taking ownership of revenue cycle results, including strategies to enhance revenue and account receivables.
- Executes any other responsibilities as tasked.
Education
- Required: Associate Degree, preferably in business, finance or healthcare related field OR High School Diploma with 6 years healthcare operational experience, 4 of which are in leadership and certification. Preferred: BS in Nursing or BS/BA in Healthcare Administration
Experience
- Required: 3 years in medical practice total with 2 years in a practice supervisory role. Without a degree, must have 6 years healthcare operational experience, 4 of which are in healthcare management or a healthcare leadership role and certification.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required: Completion of MGMA Principles Practice Management Certificate or Practice Management Institute CMOM certification within 90 days of hire. If No degree, must have CMPE or CMOM at time of hire. Preferred: CMPE
