Job Description

Employing specialized radiographic machinery, the Bone Densitometry Technologist RT Certified measures the bone density of individuals. They are tasked with the administration of contrast materials following established radiology guidelines to heighten the precision of diagnostic imaging examinations. Working under the guidance of a radiologist, this individual evaluates and supervises the bone density status and susceptibility to fractures of patients to contribute to the detection and care of bone-related ailments, aiming to enhance patient outcomes.

Essential Job Function:

  • Conducts regular and specialized tests according to established procedures in order to reduce repeat imaging and minimize radiation dosage to levels that are reasonably achievable, prioritizing patient well-being and maximizing diagnostic efficacy.
  • Sustains exam productivity within set parameters to uphold the efficient allocation of time and resources while delivering timely and precise findings.
  • Conducts all examinations and paperwork in CHL and PACS to uphold detailed patient documentation and enable quick retrieval of medical information for well-informed decision-making.
  • Ensures the clear identification of all costs linked to academic investigations to guarantee correct billing and repayment, promoting fair compensation for healthcare provisions provided.
  • Handling errors and addressing concerns with the final product intended for transmission to the PACS system is essential to uphold the integrity of patient records and diagnostic images, supporting the delivery of effective treatment strategies.
  • By employing the Two for Two approach, healthcare professionals can ensure the correct identification of patients, implementing systematic measures to prevent issues with laterality errors and minimize the occurrence of falls, which contributes to the overall health and safety of patients.
  • Implementing the AIDET strategy entails recognizing patients, introducing oneself, detailing the anticipated timeframe, offering explanations, and showing appreciation, all in an effort to foresee and satisfy their needs while promoting a favorable healthcare setting.
  • Executes any other responsibilities given.

Education:

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent, Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program.

Experience:

  • Required: 0 1-year, Healthcare - Diagnostic Technologist.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

  • Required: Radiologic Technologist-Dx (ARRT (R)) and Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) through International Society for Clinical Densitometry or Registered in Bone Densitometry (RT-R-BD) through the ARRTBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
