Job Description
The duties of the Certified Medical Assistant involve collaborating with the healthcare team to administer care to patients based on the Provider's instructions and appropriate care strategies for the patient's specific needs and age group. This role operates under supervision, aiding nursing, laboratory, administrative, and medical staff members to enhance patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.
Essential Job Function:
- Participates in assembling patient details involving biological, psychological, social, and cultural elements. Inputs information including vital signs and carries out the care strategy under the guidance of the Provider. Enforces guidelines/standard orders depending on the patient's complaint or motive for the appointment. Conducts 12-lead EKGs, certain respiratory therapy procedures, and other allocated patient care duties for which adequate training has been received and skill in performing has been indicated.
- Dispenses oral and parenteral drugs, which may include immunizations, controlled substances, therapeutic injections, skin examinations, and various treatment methods, following specific protocols and medical assisting norms, while being directed by supervising physicians.
- Handles medication prior authorizations and transmits physician prescriptions to pharmacies through phone or fax as required. Manages the booking of appointments, giving priority to patients in immediate need and ensuring a smooth patient flow.
- Maintains precise, comprehensive, and punctual documentation of all medical assistant activities in the patient's health record. Acquires all relevant prior approval or pre-authorization for patients to meet safety protocols. Transmits patient status, inquiries, and worries to nursing personnel and medical practitioner for proper message triaging and responsive actions.

Education
- Required: High School Diploma or EquivalentPreferred: Medical Assistant Program
Experience
- Required: NonePreferred: Completion of medical assistant program including clinical rotation and physician office experience
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health - RMA(AAH), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider. **Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.**
