Job Description
The Customer Service Representative is tasked with promptly and courteously responding to inquiries via telephone, evaluating customer requests to efficiently maintain the highest level of collection operations, and ensuring adherence to established policies, guidelines, and procedures. Operating under general supervision, this role is responsible for organizing timely patient payments post-insurance or as a substitute to decrease outstanding balances and expedite reimbursement processing.
Essential Job Function:
- Addresses patient calls promptly to manage account matters and provides precise details on account status, payments, rejections, refunds, and patient outstanding amounts, ensuring appropriate account handling.
- Carries out targeted payment collection initiatives while interacting with patients over the phone to ensure revenue is generated promptly.
- Maintains detailed documentation of interactions to promote precise record-keeping and effective communication throughout the revenue cycle, verifying patient demographic and billing data accuracy, rectifying insurance carrier discrepancies, and optimizing patient record and billing efficiency.
- Provides guidance on credit and collections data to concerned parties and proposes suitable payment alternatives based on the conditions to foster better understanding and cooperation.
- Ensures adherence to corporate compliance guidelines, specifically those outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), to safeguard patient privacy and meet legal obligations.
- Adheres to standards of quality and productivity and alerts the manager to any potential issues that could result in payment delays or increased denials.
- Executes tasks as designated by superiors.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Required: 1 Year
