Job Description
The internship role is a limited-time opportunity starting with an orientation session on September 7th, 2026, and allowing a maximum of 250 hours of work. The Food and Nutrition Service Internship at Cone Health offers hands-on experience supporting professionals in areas such as menu planning, community outreach, and health advocacy. Interns will work in clinical, public health, or food service settings, engaging in tasks like developing educational resources, overseeing food inventory, and analyzing data, usually under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian. This position is ideal for students who wish to explore healthcare operations, data analysis, and collaborative work across different functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile, evaluate, and outline data associated with program success, staff developments, and future planning strategies.
- Support in developing meal schedules, examining the nutritional content of meal arrangements, and supervising food safety and inventory control, such as conducting cost and nutrient evaluations, and obtaining patient input regarding meal satisfaction
- Produce educational content on nutritional topics, offer workshops, and back local initiatives or culinary training sessions.
- Engage in partnerships with both internal divisions and outside collaborators for marketing efforts, endeavors, and specialized assignments.
- Efficiently managing multiple tasks and priorities at the same time is key to productivity.
- Help in advancing, carrying out, and following up on internal endeavors, functions, and efforts designed to enhance staff involvement and promote long-term commitment.
- Aid in the management of databases, compiling reports, and documenting critical workflows.
- Create content for presentations, reports, and communications intended for leadership and stakeholders.
- Investigate sector benchmarks, top-notch strategies, and upcoming innovations.
- Manage the coordination of logistics for various occasions, assemblies, and the launch of initiatives.
- Execute any other responsibilities as instructed by the supervisor or project manager.
Education:
- Required: Must be in process of a college-level degree in a related field and a student in good standing.
- Junior, senior, or graduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or a related field.
Experience:
- Understanding of nutritional assessment, menu planning, and food safety standards.
- Strong interest in healthcare, nonprofit work, business, or systems improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and teams).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.

- Ability to listen empathetically and organize information logically.
