Job Description

Overview:

The Nursing Technician provides support to the Registered Nurse by observing and documenting patient conditions. This role entails assisting patients with daily tasks and promoting progressive mobility under supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists individuals with daily tasks like meal preparation, self-care, and enhancing mobility to help them recover and follow their care plan effectively.
  • Assesses patients' quality of life based on their nutritional intake, hydration status, and waste elimination patterns to inform resource allocation and predict potential needs.
  • Organizes the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients to facilitate their movement to the designated areas according to the care plan.
  • Helps with medical procedures such as tracking blood sugar, recording crucial vital statistics, administering electrocardiograms, using necessary restrictions, and addressing bathroom necessities in order to provide patients with optimal comfort.
  • Supports in overseeing the inventory levels of supplies and healthcare instruments on the unit to uphold a sanitary and protected atmosphere as per the National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Ensures that patients at risk of falling possess the correct wristbands, socks, and signs to maintain their physical safety.
  • Supports in documenting every clinical process, patient communication, and utilization of medications in order to preserve a thorough patient background.
  • Shows rapid responses to instructions from the nursing staff and relays patient assessments to foster streamlined collaboration.
  • Completes tasks beyond the regular duties.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

Required: None

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

Required: Certification required by State of North Carolina DHHR. Nurse Aide Certification required. BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
