Job Description
The main duty of the Environmental Service Technician is to clean and sanitize patient rooms, treatment areas, restrooms, and public spaces in accordance with the hospital's standards to address the customer service demands of the facility. Working closely with supervision, this position is committed to disease prevention by following the environmental and infection control protocols set by regulatory bodies.
Essential Job Function:
- Cleaning tasks were documented on the suitable forms to record items precisely on paper.
- Maintains open lines of communication with the supervisor to share updates on current duties and tackle any complex or critical issues.
- Supports in monitoring and adjusting supply levels to achieve a balance between departmental demands and budget constraints.
- Aids in the upkeep of equipment and storage areas for the efficient operation of departmental processes.
- Manages the treatment and removal of carpet stains when necessary to preserve a presentable look for visitors and patients.
- Assists in choosing the right cleaning agents and tools to prevent deterioration and efficiently sanitize surfaces for minimizing the chances of sickness.
- Adheres to departmental cleaning standards to meet customer needs by performing tasks such as routine and weekly cleaning, discharge room cleaning, medication room cleaning, IV storage room cleaning, and refrigerator cleaning.
- Avoids handling medications and is guided when entering areas where narcotics are stored.
- Prioritizing needs requires reevaluating them and making appropriate changes as needed to meet the most important requirements.
- Undertakes supplementary duties as instructed.
Education
- Required: Associate's Degree in NursingPreferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Experience
- Required: 1 year as a Registered NursePreferred: 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact stateBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
