Job Description

The Clinical Practice Specialty Registered Nurse (RN) provides exceptional care and support across various clinical settings. Working under minimal supervision, this role ensures the delivery of high-quality specialty patient care and supports the strategic success of healthcare initiatives for that service line. Specialty Care is office based only and includes the following: Oncology, Allergy, Geriatrics, Pulmonary, Dermatology, Urgent Care, and Endocrinology as well as Cardiology, Neurology, Rheumatology, Occupational Medicine, GYN only, ENT, Vascular, Psychiatry, APPs in Community Care Clinic, Wound Care and Patient Care Clinic settings.

Essential Job Function:

  • Scrutinizes patient needs and health conditions in designated clinical environments to enable the delivery of nursing care that is personalized and directly aligned with individual patient needs.
  • Interprets patient details, like medical history, diagnostic test results, and current health condition, to create personalized nursing care plans.
  • Nursing processes involve various tasks such as medication administration, access and care of vascular devices, and provision of treatments, all aimed at delivering thorough patient care.
  • Dispenses medications and treatments, adheres to defined protocols and guidelines to ensure the safe handling of hazardous and non-hazardous medications, prioritizing the safety of patients and staff members.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance by comparing medical records against regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Evaluates patient's reaction to interventions and identifies any additional interventions required to accomplish defined goals of care.
  • Works jointly with a diverse care team to ensure the success of care plan coordination.
  • Acts as a proficient mentor and supporter, furnishing advice, education, and backing to coworkers and team members to promote a climate of perpetual growth.
  • Carries out other duties as mandated.

Education

  • Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing, For Oncology RNs Specialty Competency eligible within 3 months of hirePreferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, For Oncology RNs Specialty Competency eligible within 3 months of hire

Experience

  • Required: 1 year as a Registered Nurse with 1 year in a clinical specialty hired as defined by ANCC or national nursing organization

Licensure/Certification/Listing

  • Required: Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact stateBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderPreferred: Certification in Specialty eligible within 1 year of hire
