Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Speech Language Pathologist II is the evaluation and treatment of patients with disorders related to speech, language, voice, swallowing, and cognition. The individual is expected to adeptly manage patient cases and fulfill the duties associated with speech-language pathology independently, but may require support when faced with more complex scenarios or when transitioning to new work environments. Effective communication within the interdisciplinary team, treating established patients with assurance, and representing the interests of patients and colleagues are integral aspects of this position. Essential Job Function:
- Examines and cares for all types of diagnoses and challenging patients.
- Performs in-depth assessments on individuals with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing problems to determine their communication and oral motor capabilities.
- Involves in creating and applying personalized therapeutic approaches supported by evidence, patient objectives, and specific requirements.
- Instructs patients and their loved ones about treatment protocols, home-based workouts, and self-regulation practices to boost the chances of successful recuperation.
- Tracks and documents the advancements of individuals under care, their reactions to therapies, and the outcomes of interventions to enable potential adjustments to their treatment strategies.
- Collaborates with peers to design and apply discharge strategies and advice for sustained wellness.
- Informs appropriate parties on the latest developments and existing situation, which could involve family members or medical experts.
- Aids in familiarizing and educating new team members, displays a persistent resolve to elevate the competence and efficacy of fellow workers.
- Executes any other assigned responsibilities.
Education
- Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology
Experience
- Required: 2 years
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Required:Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship YearLicensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience YearBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
