Job Description
Assist in the technical components of patient treatment, which includes simulation, development of treatment plans, implementation of treatment procedures, evaluation of radiation dosage, production of treatment equipment, and documentation of patient charts based on the instructions of the Radiation Oncologist and with the direct supervision of a Registered Radiation Therapist.
Essential Job Function
- Under the supervision of a Registered Radiation Therapist, the Student Radiation Therapist will assist in carrying out simulation and radiation treatment planning procedures while adhering to institutional regulations, governmental guidelines, and professional norms.
- Support the implementation of radiation therapy procedures while upholding the institutional protocols, government regulations, and professional best practices.
- Conduct patient charting duties concerning simulation practices, radiation therapy delivery, and billing operations.
- Providing patients with information and evaluating their needs during simulation and radiation therapy sessions is vital to help them feel empowered and informed about their treatment.
- Arrange patient schedules and transportation for simulation and radiation therapy procedures.
- Undertakes any other assigned obligations.
Education
- Required:Currently attending an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program with sufficient credits to graduate within 6 months.Preferred:Bachelor s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
Experience
Licensure/Certification/Listing
- Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally (up to 1/3 of the time), and/or; 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or; greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly (2/3 or more of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
