Job Description
Working within a cohesive clinical unit, the Exercise Physiologist II is tasked with developing tailored exercise regimens for rehab patients based on their clinical condition and assessment outcomes. They are accountable for overseeing physiological data and making necessary adjustments to ensure the well-being and therapeutic progress of the patient. Moreover, they participate in educating participants and engaging effectively with other healthcare disciplines engaged in the treatment of adult and senior rehab patients.
Essential Job Function:
- Administers evaluations of functional capacity, balance, and musculoskeletal health with a focus on accuracy and wellbeing.
- Tailors exercise prescriptions and outcome reports based on test findings.
- Executes services catered to inpatients while reviewing services designed for outpatients.
- Keeps a record of patient ambulation and notes their feedback on exercise performance in medical records.
- Ensures that pertinent information is accurately documented in the patient's medical record in a timely manner.
- Aids in overseeing data organization and quality benchmarks for the Rehabilitation program, giving due regard to accuracy and timeliness.
- Conducts educational sessions for individuals and groups of patients/participants.
- Health advisors educate individuals on workout routines, potential hazards, and additional advice pertaining to medical conditions.
- Direct to relevant service providers when needed.
- Designs a personalized exercise schedule for the individual to implement in their daily routine at home and post-discharge.
- Assists in maintaining equipment through preventive measures.
- Safeguarding the well-being of individuals and ensuring the efficiency of operations can be achieved by establishing a documented plan for preventative maintenance.
- Leads the effort to ensure that all equipment is calibrated and properly maintained in adherence to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Collaborates with Bio-Med and/or facilities service personnel to ensure proper maintenance follow-through.
- Collaborates with management on matters concerning the needs and upkeep of program exercise equipment.
- Facilitates the generation of recommendations, memberships, and fresh enrollments of patients or participants by managing phone conversations or liaising with providers about getting involved in the program.
- Supervising student interns to guarantee they follow policies, procedures, and methods, responding to inquiries, facilitating orientation, elucidating appropriate procedures, illustrating techniques, and taking action to rectify any errors or inadequacies.
- Provision of feedback encompasses sharing comments in a helpful and timely fashion, whether informally or formally.
- Aiding in organizing the intern's daily duties and timetable to facilitate goal attainment.
- Executes any other responsibilities given.
Education:
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or Physical Education.
- Preferred: Master's Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or Physical Education.
Experience:
- Required: 3 years in a clinical setting/cardiac and pulmonary rehab setting.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist or ACSM Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider and ACLS.
